Shopper's Attitudes Affect Retail Workers

As you can tell by now, this blog has turned into my own space for venting. The holidays have done this to me, so I apologize in advance. One customer can make you have a terrific or horrible day.

Recently things have not been going well because everyone is stressed out trying to get their gifts together, which I understand. Discounts can be very good or just okay, I recognize that. Just as a friendly PSA, sales associates and managers do not have a say in pricing or discounts if the store is a corporation or large entity. No I can not give you shirts for free or change the price, I’m sorry but I need to keep my job.

Also when you are unhappy that my response is “I’m sorry, our corporate office is in charge of sales and pricing” and you ask for a manager, please notice the pure joy I have in telling you that its ME. The holidays have changed me as a person, which is a bit negative.

On a completely different page. I work in retail because I love clothing and SHOPPING. So I truly enjoy helping people pick out outfits! Luckily a woman who was shopping for her 91 year old father saved the day. She said she loved shopping in our store, talked to us all like human beings and, AND SAID PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Yes, a simple please and thank you can change a retail worker’s day! Crazy, I know.
